Omnipresent, yet with an obscured past, drifters have no island to call home.
Drifters are a tardigrade-like species made out of cloth and resin. Their many arms make them excellent multitaskers, and most will withstand even the most uncomfortable of conditions.
Somewhere in the Crystal Ridge, there is a truly massive, curled horn of multicolored resin. Drifters have set up infrastructure around it, and that is because it is very important to the species as a whole.
Drifters have a unique way of reproducing - they are crafted from (mostly) cloth. What brings a newborn Drifter to life is the translucent, life-infused resin that makes up their head and "heart". This resin can be collected from the large horn that is currently embedded in the Crystal Ridge.
Once, the life-giving resin was more accessible to Drifters, back when they had a proper homeland. Now, the horn might just be one of the last remnants of the Drifter's mysterious lost past. To start a family, a Drifter now has to make a pilgrimage to this horn to collect the resin that will grant life to the freshly-crafted Drifter.
